The Early Doctoral Student Research Grant (EDSRG)
This program assists eligible doctoral students cultivate their research skills through the preparation of research manuscripts that focus on housing and urban development issues. This program also supports and encourages new scholars to share their research findings through presentations at scholarly conferences and/or publication in a refereed journal.OUP competitively awards one-time grants of up to $15,000 to pre-dissertation doctoral students enrolled at accredited institutions of higher education recognized by the U.S. Department of Education whose studies include urban economics as a major or concentration within another field related to housing and urban development.

The Doctoral Dissertation Research Grant program is intended to stimulate policy-relevant urban research in several ways: by encouraging doctoral candidates to pursue research topics in community, housing, and urban development; by assisting doctoral candidates in the timely completion of the dissertation research; and by providing an arena for new scholars to share their research findings.
Type of Assistance: HUD competitively awards one-time grants of $15,000 per student each year to approximately 15 doctoral candidates currently enrolled in accredited programs.
